Fuel Storage Tanks

Aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) used for the store storage of petroleum products is regulated primarily under Environmental Protection Agency’s 40 CFR 112. Whether you are procuring a tank to store crude oil, biodiesel, petroleum fuels such as gasoline, diesel, and kerosene, or alcohol fuels like methanol, ethanol, and butanol, making sure that your tank adheres to the American Petroleum Institute (API) Standards is critical.

API Standard 650 is designed to provide industry with tanks of adequate safety and reasonable economy for use in the storage of petroleum, petroleum products, and other liquid products. The standard covers storage tanks with maximum internal pressure of 2.5 psi (pounds per square inch) at temperature range of -40°F to 500°F (degrees Fahrenheit). For higher maximum internal pressure applications up to 15 psi and temperature range of -325°F to 250°F, such as the storage of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), API Standard 620 should be used. Choosing the right API standard will not only provide cost effective solutions to your fuel storage needs but will also protect your investment and your business. For tank pressure greater than 15 psi, ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) BPVC (Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code) Section VIII must be strictly followed.

RECO can engineer, design, fabricate and construct any tank to API standards; to any size that suits your needs and match your specifications. As a total solution provider of your tank projects, RECO also designs and provides code compliant components such as double-wall for spill containment, spiral stairs and cage ladders for access and egress, manholes and cleanout ports for maintenance, platforms and walkways for access to elevated workspaces and ease of operations, and many more.

RECO Constructors is also well versed in API Standard 653 that governs tank inspection, repair, alteration, and reconstruction should you need any modifications, repairs and rebuilds to your existing storage tanks.
